Measuring up? Evaluating implementation of Government commitments to young witnesses in criminal proceedings is the report of a major study on young witnesses by Lexicon for the Nuffield Foundation and the NSPCC. To read the report, click here.

There has been an enormous response to the report's findings and recommendations. A seminar for judges, magistrates and lawyers was held at the Nuffield Foundation in June 2010 to discuss the implications for the questioning of children and incorporating good practice in advocacy training.

The report was cited by the Supreme Court in its judgment in the case of Re W which addresses the circumstances in which children appear to give evidence in the family courts.

A further seminar is planned for 28th September 2010. This time the focus will be on what progress has been made in responding to the recommendations in Measuring up? The seminar will be attended by policy-makers from a range of criminal justice system agencies. A background paper and summary of the discussion at the seminar will appear on this site.
